    Kittens dumped in dustbin

TWO kittens were found dumped in a dustbin in Newport.

The animals, thought to be around six weeks old, were found in a large bin behind the Top of the Range pub, Pill, by Aaron Hood, 16.

He was walking home on Wednesday evening when he heard a noise coming from inside the bin, He opened it up and found two black kittens inside.

Aaron took the cats home to be cleaned and fed, and they are now with Gwent Cats Protection.

His mother, Jacqueline Hood, 46, said: "Nobody should treat an animal like that, it's just wrong.

"Some people are really spiteful and cruel."

It is not known how long the kittens had been left in the bin.

The kittens, one male and one female, are now improving.

One has suffered a damaged tail and might lose the end.

Mrs Hood said she is proud of her son for his actions, and said he wants to work with animals when he is older.

Glynis Davies, 49, coordinator for Gwent Cat Protection said it was lucky the kittens were found when they were as the bins were due for collection the next morning.

She said: "It's horrendous, it's just so callous, to put young kittens in a dustbin is just beyond belief."

Gwent Cat Protection is looking to re-home the kittens in around two weeks time.

Well done Aaron and gwent cats protection.
Hope they are successful in rehoming the kittens.
Rather than dumping these poor creatures why don't they contact cat's protection. A phone call isn't much to ask.
I think cat's protection will also help out with the cost of neutering and spaying of cats for people on low incomes so there really is no excuse.

Find the wasters that did this and put them down,or use their organs and then put them out as waste.

Well done Aaron, a young man with responsability, the wasters who did this deserve to be dumoed in a bin in the middle of nowhere.

Poor things, it's a wonder the deadbeats who dumped them didn't try to sell them so they can go and buy their white lightning... Glad they're OK now though and hopefully get a new home...

Well done Aaron, for rescuing those poor kittens and showing that there are still young people out there who actually care about the welfare of animals!

It is terrible that people would rather kill two innocent kittens than make a simple call to the cat protection agency, I want to say well done to Aaron for saving their lives..hope your dream of working with animals when you are older works out.
