    Charvis honoured with anti-racism award

A GWENT Dragons player is going to be inducted into the Show Racism the Red Card Hall of Fame.

Wales international Colin Charvis will be honoured at a awards ceremony at 10 Downing Street on Monday.

The awards were designed to recognise the contribution of time and commitment UK role models such as the Dragons flanker have given to the fight against racism.

This is the latest honour for the 17stone 9lb 35-year-old who already holds 94 Welsh caps as well as two British and Irish Lions caps.

Show Racism the Red Card is now in it's 12th year, with the Hall of Fame awards set up in 2004 to honour their longest standing patrons.

Mr Charvis will be among a host of celebrities at the ceremony, being hosted by Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Sir Bobby Robson, Ian Wright, John Barnes and Gary Lineker will also be their receiving individual awards for help in combatting racism.

You know it's the name of the Rugby Team. For everyone's sake get off your blinking soap box.
I use Gwent all the time in my postal dealings and most of the Health Boards and other's do same. If you don't like it you know what to do, get a life. And regarding the story my comment is congratulations Colin.

(are): Mythical beasts from a non-existent Welsh area, maybe. Or, (is): A collective noun for a local organisation, possibly.

    Er, no it isn't.

I use Gwent all the time in my postal dealings and most of the Health Boards and other's do same.

    Really? Why?

I have no problem with Gwent but for once I agree with Owain. Either the Dragons if you really must ( dreadful name) or Newport Gwent Dragons. By the way, where did that apostrophe come from? It certainly doesn't belong in "others".

Instead of your petty squabbling, shouldn't we be standing up and saying big congratulations to Colin. Well done, a worthy award to a fine rugby player

    PAUL WILLIAMS...
You should read the Guardian, Times, plus read the BBC information, they use the apostrophe all the time.My husband laughed at your comment and said you were a pedant which I fully agree with. And by the way the Dragon is on the Welsh Flag, and no doubt this was where the Gwent Dragon name came from.

Colin you have been a star - not bad for an old man and I am 60!
Thank you for a lot of hard work!

Really? Gosh! I'd never thought of that! (sarcasm). That is part of the problem - the name is overused and clichéd and isn't specific to this part of the world. Ditto the other word.

Did you know that 'Owain Vaughan' is an anagram for 'A Vagina Uh Own'?

    How apt!

grammar :-) Maybe it is sad that grammar is important but it is the basis of the way we communicate.
