CROSS Keys have got the green light for ambitious plans to rejuvenate Pandy Park with a 3,000-capacity covered terrace.

Planning permission has been granted for the development on the mountain side of the ground and work will start on Tuesday.

Everything should be in place by the time the Premiership season kicks off on September 6 and it is the latest big project undertaken by Keys.

Last season they put hours of work and plenty of money into the Pandy Park pitch under the guidance of Rodney Parade groundsman Mark Jones, transforming it from the bog of 2006-7 into a surface that didn't cause a single postponement.

And the next scheme is an all-weather training pitch at the top end of the ground which the club aim to have in development in place for next season.

"This shows the determination and ambition of the club to provide top class facilities," said chairman Colin Vernall. "It demonstrates that the club is going in line with the criteria demands of the WRU and we want to move forward.

"It is an exciting time for the club and hopefully it will help us attract both big games and more spectators along to watch.

"It is a reward for the hard work that so many people put in at the club, I can't think of many clubs that are putting in that effort and are investing in their grounds like we are.

"We didn't have a single match called off last season because of Mark's advice and help and the new terrace proves that we want to keep improving things."

On the pitch Keys are in talks with a couple more players and hope to finalise their squad soon while they have also announced their season ticket prices: stand - £95, field - £85, stand concession -£75, field concession - £65.
